About Amateur Astronomy
Astronomy Is Not Expensive!
When people talk about astronomy, a word resembles in their mind, expensive. This is definitely not the case. There are a lot of cheap options. A decent binocular which gives crispy and widefield view of the night sky is just around USD120. If you want those big guns, you can make one Dobsonian yourself according to the widely available tutorial. These equipments never fail the newcomers and the experienced. If you have the money, you can get computerised telescopes which can heat your enthusiasm even greater.
Equipments Hunger
Normally, we “morph” from a visual observer to an astrophotographer. For me, at the stage of visual observing (current stage), I keep searching for the best equipments to do observing (The visual accessories are eyepiece, filter, binoviewer, finer focuser and many more). Now, I’ve found a budget binoviewer. Next, I have to search for the best eyepieces to pair with it. When I step into astrophotography, I will get some essential accessories such as CCD camera, filters and filters wheel, focal reducer, dew heater, guidescope, autoguider and probably a new scope mounted on GEM (German Equatorial Mount).
It’s all about money but please take my words, the fun of being a visual observer is not lower than being an astrophotographer. You don’t need an expensive telescope with critrical tracking to do observing. A Dobsonian is probably the most cost-effective telescope around. You can even make them yourselves. If it’s equipped with proper mounting platform, it can produce nice photos.
Newcomers, don’t worry, it’s very easy to find your dream scope at the very affordable price.
